Testimonials
"As a young adult, fresh out of high school and eager to enter the workforce, I was fortunate enough to find employment with Kevin in the construction industry. This opportunity proved to be invaluable, as Kevin possessed a wealth of carpentry knowledge and skills that he had passed on to me over time.Through his guidance and mentorship, I learned a wide range of useful carpentry techniques and skills.
These skills have not only been useful in my professional life but have also come in handy in my personal life. Thanks to these skills and experiences, I have been able to confidently tackle various home improvement projects, including major renovations and additions to my own homes. The knowledge and experience I gained under his mentorship have also enabled me to assist friends, family, and neighbors with their own construction and renovation endeavors.
Kevin's willingness to share his knowledge and expertise provided me with the tools to do a lot of my own work and help in my community for which I am thankful."
"My husband and I were a busy working couple for over 18 years with 4 children.
We had not had a real vacation on our own since our honeymoon. Kevin offered to help us and used his air miles for flights (because we could not afford the flights) and gave us our first vacation alone since having children. It was so nice for us to get away on our own and we realized that we would be ok as empty nesters."
"He is a good man - He built me a garage with a heated floor... and has done so much for his large family."
"For as long as I have known Kevin, there are two main traits that I have admired the most…. His work ethic and his love of his wife Pam and his little girl Meg. He would move mountains for his family"
"One of the most poignant memories I have of Kevin's unwavering support was when our father passed away. I was just 18, alone in our large, empty house, far from the rest of the family. The news came in the middle of the night, and I was instructed to meet everyone at my sister's house. As I dressed, the reality of my father's death and the fear of being alone hit me hard. Just then, I heard the door open, and there was Kevin. He had left his wife and young daughter to come to me, knowing I shouldn't be alone during such a difficult time. His presence was a beacon of comfort and strength in a moment of profound sadness and uncertainty."
"The first truly personal experience I had with my Uncle Kevin came in high school, when he asked me if I would help him with a construction job, reroofing a house. Initially, I was nervous, as I didn’t have much of an idea as to what the job entailed; I had helped my dad with smaller jobs, of a similar nature, but wasn’t confident in my knowledge or abilities, by any means. Right away, it was clear that he was excited to teach me the inner workings of his field and appreciated my thrilled interest. I had assumed the work would be nothing but stressful and was terrified I would let him down, that I would inevitably feel foolish, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Throughout the project, my Uncle Kevin made a point of letting me know he was impressed with my work ethic, along with my eagerness to learn everything he was offering me. I have thought back on this time with reverence frequently and am abundantly grateful for the moments we shared."
"I am a Registered Nurse and have worked in health care for the past 15 years. I have been informed that Mr. O'Rourke is facing a life sentence for charges related to possession of a small amount of cannabis products.
I initially met Mr. O’Rourke or Uncle Kevin nearly 15 years ago when I became part of his large family. Years later I would meet him again, but this time he was welcoming my family and my newborn son into his home during a very tragic time when our son was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder causing him to be blind and possibly facing other severe ailments. We travelled to Toronto to visit Sick Kids Hospital for a medical assessment and surgery when my son was just 5 weeks old. During this very difficult time Uncle Kevin looked after us in many ways such as driving us to and from appointments, cooking us meals doing our laundry and most importantly, offering us comfort and emotional support. I will always hold a special place for him in my heart, as he so lovingly and willingly supported me and my family, and my son during our time of need."
"In 2010 we attended a family reunion in Ottawa and took our 3 sons to see Toronto. Kevin came from Aurora where he lived to show us some of Toronto and gave us a ride to the airport."
"A number of years ago my wife and I needed to renovate our kitchen, dining room and front entrance area. We had four young children and had to relocate our main living area and temporary kitchen to the basement when we started the renovation. Kevin flew in from Toronto to help us tear down walls, rebuild them, doing electrical and plumbing at the same time. Kevin and I worked 14-16 hours a day and by day 12 the kitchen install was completed. He did all the trim and finished up the kitchen before he flew back to his construction company he ran in Toronto. Kevin worked very hard for us and we still appreciate to this day the time and energy he dedicated to help us. He gave my family 14 days of his time to help ensure the job was completed smoothly and professionally. Just two brothers working together enjoying their time getting the project completed."
