About Kevin

Maurice "Kevin" O'Rourke is my husband of over 40 years

Kevin is from a family of 9 kids born in a small town in Northern Manitoba, The Pas.

He grew up on a hobby farm, he and his family have so many stories of their growing up adventures, making good memories and lifelong friends. While we settled in Ontario more than 35 years ago now, most of his brothers and sisters and now 25 nieces and nephews still reside in that small town along with their children and families.

He is Dad to our daughter, Maegan, the two of them are very close, she calls him her best friend. Their favourite times together recently have been spent renovating Maegan’s house in a small community outside of Winnipeg, they still have a couple more “projects” to undertake so Maegan is anxiously waiting to having her dad back.

Kevin is a carpenter, a contractor and a construction specialist who has worked on new construction and renovations for residential projects, industrial and commercial buildings including numerous health care facilities and schools.

He always has a project on the go doing home renovations, when covid hit he turned to renovating houses almost full time. In January 2022, we took on renovating our retirement home together, it was a two year project, he took it right down to the rafters and built our dream home practically by himself with some neighbourly help and lots of ideas from me.  It is the house we live in but as I look around it is Kevin’s house, every thing from how energy efficient it is to the ceiling detail in the bathroom to the piece of lumber a friend cut down from his property for Kevin to use for a mantel on the fireplace, this house was truly his labor of love.

His Projects big and small could extend to helping his sister build a garage with a heated floor in Northern Manitoba to working with the neighbors to build a fence, fix their flooring, help with a plumbing project, teaching someone to grout a bathroom,  cutting up fallen trees for a neighbour, helping eliminate a hornets nest, to being the neighborhood “tool lender”, friends and family know Kevin can always be counted on to help.

We found out he had Addisons disease over 25 years ago and then heart issues, neither of which slowed him down. He is very fortunate to have a wonderful doctor here in Canada who with regular monitoring and ongoing treatment has been able to help Kevin effectively manage his Addisons. His healthcare team would attest he was very committed to ensuring he remained healthy in the most natural way.

Kevin is not a criminal, he is a dad, a husband, brother, an uncle, a son in law, a friend…

Please help bring Kevin home to his next project!
